PREGNANCY LOSS
If you are looking at this page, then I assume that you may have, or are potentially about to lose your pregnancy. My heart is with you. This is an emotional time, and I would like to offer you support, both emotionally and physically.
Firstly – don’t hesitate to contact me if you have questions. Every situation is different, and it is hard to outline exactly what may take place. If you think you are having an emergency and it is after hours, then you can contact the birthing unit at the SAN (94804161) or Hornsby Hospital (94779260) and ask them to put me in touch with you.
First trimester (up to 13 weeks' gestation) pregnancy loss can occur for many reasons, but most commonly – we never find out why. Some reasons include a genetic or chromosomal problem with the pregnancy or rarely it may be due to a blood clotting disorder. Generally, the pregnancy loss might present at an early ultrasound, or you might have bleeding associated with crampy, period pain.
Once you have confirmed that you are experiencing a pregnancy loss – there are several ways I can help you through this time. You might be able to manage it all at home, or you may wish to choose a surgical option. I will discuss these all with you when you get in touch with me.
Even once the whole episode is complete, you and your partner may feel very emotional about your loss. This can continue for some time, and I think this is healthy and natural. At my practice, we provide a safe environment to help you through this time. Please let us know if you are struggling, as no one needs to struggle alone at these times.
