Welcome to my website. My name is Dr Peter Wood, but I prefer just Peter. Here you will find a lot of useful information to help you with your own personal journey. Some may be looking for information about my obstetric program, others may be seeking a solution to a short or long-term women’s health problem. I have tried to put together some useful information to help guide you through this process.
I have amazing staff, that help provide a safe, and warm environment. Ally, my practice midwife is also a lactation consultant and she is very much involved in the obstetric program. She also assists with various gynae procedures and provides a safe and loving environment during intimate examinations. Merilyn and Linda are my receptionists. Merilyn is also my practice manager and has many years of experience helping navigate the complexities of the private health and Medicare systems. Don’t hesitate to call her if you have questions. Linda is a part-time receptionist who also has been working for many years in this role.
We like to provide an opportunity for all women to receive care. I am based in Wahroonga, with admitting rights to the Sydney Adventist Hospital (aka the SAN) and Hornsby & Kuring-gai Hospital. We have patients coming to us from all over Sydney and the Central Coast. Even overseas patients can contact us if they wish to have treatment when returning to Australia. I have had patients from as far away as Tunisia, Swaziland, China and USA to name a few.
No private health insurance…. Don’t worry. I have access to Hornsby and Kuring-gai Hospital which is a great public hospital. I can still look after you as a private patient – even if you don’t have private health insurance. This includes our obstetric program and gynae patients. Please see the cost schedule page for more information.
I firmly believe that women are the centre of their families. Adverse health issues that affect women can have a massive impact on the entire family. These issues are very important to us, and I welcome your open discussion about these issues so I can help you in the best way possible.
We sometimes have students involved in my office. At my practice – we have a lot to offer, and we have to bolster the next generation with great midwives and doctors. The SAN has a very active Student Midwifery program that I am a part of. Each year a student midwife will be with us for 1 day a week. All of our patients that have taken the option to have a Student Midwife involved in their care, have found it to be very rewarding and enriching. The SAN also is a campus for the Sydney University Medical Faculty. About once or twice a month we may have a Medical Student attending our rooms to further their education. I believe they are the future of Australian health care and need great learning opportunities. You will be given advance notice if a medical student will be attending, asking your permission to have them involved in your consultation.
